Maha Bodhi School Alumni Band (MBSAB) had humble beginnings in 2005 when Mr Quek Boon Hui, MBS Symphonic Band (MBSSB)'s Resident conductor, brought alumni members back to help out with a combined CD recording project that featured several of the many pieces that the band has played before. After this successful production, the alumni remained largely dormant until 2009, when alumni members were called back once again, becoming involved in MBSSB's ODYSSEY II. With the success of this project, several alumni members started to keep in contact with one another, and began to wonder whether there were any other ways of helping Mr. Quek and MBSSB.

Then, the idea to gather and form an alumni band materialized. The idea gradually took shape and shortly after, the first EXCO of MBSAB was formed. Other than being able to provide a meaningful and fruitful avenue for ex-MBS Concert Band members to come together to create wonderful music together, MBSAB resolves to becoming a pillar of support for the MBSSB whenever the need arises. Working towards the goal of performing to a large audience, MBSAB successfully hosted the first of their biennial concert series: REMINISCENCE I, at the Singapore Conference Hall (SCH) in June 2010.

Since then, MBSAB has not stopped moving forward, taking on a wide range of projects such as helping MBSSB with their own concert series: ODYSSEY, as well as organizing camps to develop the kids' musical talent and leadership skills. MBSAB will continuously strive to help the MBSSB in whatever way she can. Under the baton of our Music Director and Resident Conductor Mr. Yeo Jie Yuan, as well as guidance from our Music Advisor Mr. Quek Boon Hui, MBSAB hopes to not only to inspire her members through the invaluable experience learnt from the exposure to varied musical styles and genres, but also giving MBSAB members a place where their music skills and talents can be polished and refined even further.
